Kyoka Akers
Kyoka is an African-centered food and justice advocate from Bessemer, Alabama who believes in re-connecting mind, body and spirit. She is a graduate of Miles College and a single parent of a dynamic 10 year old son of whom she also homeschools.
Kyoka has recently been selected as a Real Food Fellow with an organization called Live Real. And with that fellowship she was able to participate in the Food and Freedom rides that took her from the deep south to the mid-west, on a 12 day road trip, promoting food and social justice and meeting people who are doing the same in their community.
She also enjoys being a mommy, meditating, yoga, crocheting, sewing, reading and writing and she has a special interest in herbs, holistic living and the healing and upliftment of women.
